MODIFICATION
WIRE
Modification (MOD) wires are used to make changes to printed circuit boards. They may be needed to fix errors, select options, or to allow use of a slightly different component than originally designed. Squires suggests a UL1423, 30 gauge Kynar, silver plated, solid conductor wire with a .004" wall and a nominal overall diameter of .018". Kynar shows no deformation at wave soldering temperatures, but if hit directly with a soldering iron, the insulation may be damaged. This wire can be made as short as .250" with strip lengths as small as .031". Modification wires are also available in 28, 26, and 24 gauge.
